February 14th Lecture and Events in Honor of President’s Day

In honor of Presidents Day Weekend, the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation will host a lecture and open house at the President Calvin Coolidge Museum and Education Center on Saturday, February 14, from Noon to 4:00 p.m.

At 2:00 p.m., Rushad Thomas, Coolidge Foundation Program Associate, will present the lecture: “Mr. Coolidge Goes to Cuba.” President Coolidge is the only sitting U.S. president to ever visit Cuba. This lecture will explore the complicated history of the U.S.-Cuba relationship and highlight President Coolidge’s historic visit in 1928. Refreshments will follow.

In addition to the lecture, guests can tour the museum exhibit: More Than Two Words”: The Life and Legacy of Calvin Coolidge. Hands-on activities in the Coolidge Classroom will include making your own diary, writing with ink pens, and exploring topics such as political cartoons, voting rights, and changes in technology, including a display on Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Harvey Firestone.

Visitors can walk through the tranquil Plymouth Notch village to the historic Plymouth Cheese Factory, which will be open for the day. Visitors can also solve the Coolidge Quest.

These programs are free and open to the public and presented in collaboration with the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation. The Coolidge Museum and Education Center is located at 3780 Route 100A in Plymouth, VT. For further information call 802-672-3389 or email education@calvin-coolidge.org.
