90th Anniversary: “Brave Little State of Vermont”
Coolidge reenactor Tracy Messer brings the famed “Brave Little State of Vermont” speech back to life in Bennington, Vermont for its 90th anniversary. Delivered to a crowd at the town’s depot from the platform of a railroad car in September, 1928, President Coolidge used the speech to extol the values of Vermont and its people as it rebuilt from the devastating flood that tore through the state the year prior. The Coolidge Foundation invites you to witness one of Coolidge’s most renowned speeches, and extends a request. No known photographs of Coolidge delivering the speech exist, and should anyone have in their possession a picture of this treasured moment of Vermont history unfolding, they are greatly encouraged to attend!
